Álvaro Rey studied Engineering at the School of Engineering of Bilbao and finished his degree at the School of Mechanical Engineering of the University of Leuven (Belgium). He has completed the General Management Program (PDG) at the Business School of the University of Navarra (IESE). He is also a Project Management Professional (PMP) certified by the Project Management Institute (PMI).
Since joining IDOM in 1992, he has held the position of Building Structures Engineer, Project Manager, Corporate Quality Manager, Director of the Building Division at IDOM Bilbao and Director of the Project Management business unit.
From 2011 to 2016, he headed up the Turnkey Division of IDOM.
In January 2017, he joined the General Management of the firm as the CEO of Infrastructure, Architecture and Consulting and is currently a member of the Board of Directors.
Álvaro has developed his academic career as a university professor of Materials and Mechanical Resistance Systems at the School of Engineering of the University of Deusto (ESIDE), and as a professor of the project management module of the Business Administration Masters Programme (INSIDE). He has also participated in numerous conferences and round tables on matters related to project management.
